Focused on Cannabis Compliance, this track prepares students for roles in one of the most rapidly growing industries, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to succeed in legal, compliant cannabis operations.

The LDU Gorilla Academy is a 12-week intensive training program focused on cannabis compliance, equity-centered entrepreneurship, and real-world business readiness. Designed specifically for social equity applicants and aspiring cannabis professionals, this track provides pre-operational training and personalized support to help students build sustainable, compliant cannabis businesses and careers.
Through a unique blend of classroom instruction, hands-on learning, and one-on-one mentorship, students gain practical experience across every major aspect of running a successful cannabis operation. Participants will have access to a fully outfitted mock dispensary, allowing them to apply knowledge in a simulated environment, and will be matched with apprenticeship opportunities through partnerships with licensed operators and industry professionals.
Throughout the program, students will receive in-depth training in:
• Business development and financial literacy
• Licensing requirements and regulatory compliance
• Marketing, brand building, and digital presence
• Legal navigation and municipal approval processes
• Access to technical assistance and case management services
• Direct mentorship from successful operators and subject matter experts
Support includes all instructional materials, a digital learning platform (LMS), space and guest lecturers, and a team of case managers to ensure students stay on track and fully supported throughout the process.
Whether you’re launching a cannabis brand, applying for a retail license, or seeking to enter the industry as a skilled professional, Gorilla Academy equips you with the tools, knowledge, and network to succeed — and to lead.
